8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

In a strange way this passage is comforting. I’m glad God does not struggle with my thought-life! That he would find himself anxious, worried and confused sometimes is not what I want in my Savior.

The passage is also humbling. Especially when I think I have things under control and figured out. Remembering that God ultimately determines what is good and right and holds the truth in his person Jesus Christ places me in the right posture for faith to grow. I dare not look away and become falsely emboldened by something other than the presence of Christ’s Spirit.
