6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 14:6 (NRSV)
John 14:6 is full of meaning which is why it is our memory verse for the week. For me, the most important meaning is that the way, truth and life is contained in a person named Jesus not in a philosophy, or a set of ideals, or a pattern of living even. All of those things (philosophy, ideals, pattern of living) are important of course but are the result of a relationship with Jesus not a prerequisite for it. We follow him to the end result of living in the way that leads to truth and life. It all comes down to the second person of the Trinity who we call Jesus as the center of our faith and everything else flows from him.
