Before you head out for your weekend, here are three things that have made an impact on me this week. This is a top3 from June 2019 that I felt was timely to repost.
Faith is not believing without proof, but trusting without reservation.William Sloane Coffin
Oh wow…still pondering this quote. Trusting without reservation demands action(s). What in my life am I saying with my lips that I believe in but my action(s) say something very different?
You show me the path of life. In your presence there is fullness of joy; in your right hand are pleasures forevermore.Psalm 16:11
Being satisfied. Having fulness of life and joy. We spend our lives, often at great cost in terms of resources and personal capital, to do just that. This was a great reminder to me that all that I ever could want is found in one relationship from which flows everything else. Stop chasing happiness and contentment as if it was possible to obtain. Start resting in the relationship that does all of that and more.
If you trust the truth enough to keep unveiling yourself on the page—no matter how shameful those revelations may at first seem—the book will naturally structure itself to maximize what you’re best at.Mary Karr from Art of Memoir
Trusting that our true self is the best thing we can offer others. No matter how tempting it is to pretty it up, make it more exciting, and even hide what is embarrassing, the great gift we have to offer is that which is the most true about ourselves. Great reminder as someone tasked with communicating each week. I can’t be someone else. That simply doesn’t work. I need to be the fullest version of myself and trust that God will use all of that to do God’s work.
