Day 14: Isaiah 55:6-7

6 Seek the LORD while he may be found, call upon him while he is near;  7 let the wicked forsake their way, and the unrighteous their thoughts;  let them return to the LORD, that he may have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

Isaiah 55:6-7

Seek! Call! Return!

All things within our will, ability, even dare I say control to do. The prophet’s urgency calls upon the people to not turn their attention away from God and be sucked into a way of living that will fail them personally and fail the common good. The passage makes clear that God will be faithful to be found, will hear, have mercy and pardon. Does this passage sound familiar? My guess is that it was on Jesus’ heart during the sermon on the mount when he implores his followers to ask, seek, and knock and God will answer, be found, and open the door.

Maybe you need to hear this today like I do…

God can be trusted with whatever you are dealing with right now. He is not about to let you go or let you down.

So…seek and call and return to him…for he will have mercy on you.
