1 The LORD is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When evildoers assail me
to devour my flesh—
my adversaries and foes—
they shall stumble and fall.
3 Though an army encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear;
though war rise up against me,
yet I will be confident.
The Psalm for the second Sunday in Lent is Psalm 27. With bombs falling in Ukraine, I have been searching for some way to pray that would align with God’s will and not simply my desires. So when I am confounded by what to pray and open to language that voices God’s heart, I look to Scripture and adopt them as my prayer. God provided today through the lectionary once again as so often he does.
When my evildoers assail me and an army camps against me…my heart shall not fear. Though war rise up against me…yet I will be confident.
My prayer from God’s heart/word is for the people of Ukraine and everyone under attack this day. Let me encourage you to join me in making this our daily prayer this week.
