Day 17 of 21

“This is the day that the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.”

Psalm 118:24

“I was glad when they said, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord.’”

Psalm 122:1

Welcome to Sunday and day 17 of 21 in our scripture series. I pray God’s grace and truth will be your guiding light today.

Romans 8:27-39

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Reflection

The gospel message of Christ transforms our lives. How you say? By destroying both pride and fear. Pride disappears when we realize that Jesus had to die to save us. There is no goodness in our lives apart from his. Fear is gone when we embrace Romans 8:37-38 and realize that our victory is assured; hope eternal is a sure thing; Jesus won’t let us down and so we no longer have to claw and fight and worry and work hard to be good. When pride and fear are gone joy and peace take their place. That, my friends, is the good news of Jesus Christ.

Prayer

Thank you Lord for your good news of salvation. Restore in my the joy of your redemptive work. Wash away my pride and fear so I may be filled with your joy and peace.
