Happy Monday everyone! We are back to the lectionary reading for the next four days.
Psalm 125 (NRSV)
1 Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever.
2 As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people, from this time on and forevermore.
3 For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest on the land allotted to the righteous, so that the righteous might not stretch out their hands to do wrong.
4 Do good, O Lord, to those who are good, and to those who are upright in their hearts.
5 But those who turn aside to their own crooked ways the Lord will lead away with evildoers.
Peace be upon Israel!
Reflection
I love Mondays. I know, I know. But for me, it is the day the farthest away from stressful Sundays. It is a day of new beginnings and a fresh start. The first day of the week holds great promise. Therefore, as we begin a new week may we be reminded of the promises of the Lord on which followers of Christ stand. They who trust in the Lord cannot be moved. They who trust are surrounded not for a day but eternity but the goodness of the One who gives all good gifts. That means regardless of what this week holds we can know the One who holds is will always stand firm.
Prayer
Lord, as the week begins I stop this day and put my trust in you. Before the next breath enters my lungs I am reminded that you provide the air and the lungs therefore you can be trusted with my daily bread and eternal hope.
