To be a follower of Jesus means that we know the ways of Jesus and are committed to imitating them. It is a two-pronged process with either part being as important as the other. For if you know the ways of Jesus but are not committed to doing them, the book of James says we are “fooling ourselves.” But the same can be said if we are committed to following Jesus but do not know his ways. In that we are little more than religious people operating from the book of “My Opinions”.
The next twelve months are a Year with Jesus as we spend our time predominantly in the book of Matthew examining what Jesus did and said in order that we might be able to do the same. I stop short of saying this is a study of Matthew. For we are not called to be students but faithful followers. So we study Matthew in order to implement the truths we discover.
Will you join in the Year with Jesus? We will be doing a variety of things to familiarize ourselves with the book of Matthew, such as reading, memorizing and practicing. There will be something for everyone from the youngest on up
