Joshua 5:9 (NRSV)

9 The Lord said to Joshua, “Today I have rolled away from you the disgrace of Egypt.” And so that place is called Gilgal to this day.

“I have rolled away from you the disgrace of Egypt.” Those must have been the best words ever spoken to the people of Israel. Your shame has been converted to joy. Your hardship has been redeemed to love. Your future is now brightly in front of you and not haunted by your past.

We all need to hear these words in our lives. Not one of us, if we are fully conscious of our life, is without a great desire to be made whole. And to hear these words spoken over us, and know they are true, lifts the weight we carry over past words, actions, and thoughts done by us and to us.

So let me speak them over you on behalf of our Savior Jesus who has done for us that which we could not and still cannot do for ourselves.

You are forgiven. Your disgrace is rolled away. You are free to life in joy and obedience for all eternity.

Now…go and live like these are more than words in a blogpost. For they are. They are your new reality in Christ.

Lord Jesus, thank you for turning my disgrace into victory.
