Living With Less – The Human Side of the Recession – Economy – The New York Times.
I came across this from the NY Times this morning and also listened to an NPR podcast talking about the EFFECTS of the downturn on real people.
I have blogged before about the potential "upsides" of the recession being a return to a more modest lifestyle. But the fact of the matter is that many are not being given a choice, but rather are being forced into a new way of living. People being laid off daily. Portfolio's down 25-50%. Interest rates at low points. This perfect economic storm has created major pain for many people.
I don't have an editorial comment today. Just wanted to help make us aware of the opportunities we might have to lend a helping hand. For they are plenty.
