TED09 CONFERENCE BEGINS – “What are we waiting for?”

“TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from those three worlds. Since then its scope has become ever broader.”

This is basically a four-day who’s who event in Long Beach, CA.  For instance, Bill Gates spoke tonight and he was just a day one speaker.  The crux of TED is to bring people together from all over the globe, the bright, the curious, the different, and throw them together for four days of networking and being challenged.

I am following some of the happenings with a keen eye.  Interesting Twitter post this evening that I ran across.

Written on a #TED attendee’s arm: All the really exciting things possible in a lifetime require a little more courage than we usually have. 49 minutes ago

Is it true?  If so, should we as Christ followers be praying for courage to tackle the challenges that are all around us?  Each week, at some point in a prayer, I normally pray that God would give us the “courage and strength” to follow wherever God may be leading.  An openness to God’s call is crucial for our spiritual maturity.  Trusting that God will supply all the resources we “need” in a timely manner develops our faith.  Therefore, we must not let our season of life (young, broke, too busy, retired, to tired) distract us from following God wherever and whenever God calls.

If there were no obstacles (real or perceived) and you knew that you could not fail, what would you be doing today for God?  Really…no obstacles, no risk…what would it be?  Got an idea?

Great…here these words from Paul written in Romans 8;31, “If God is for us, who can be against us.”  The reality of the matter is that there are no obstacles, no risks that God cannot handle for us.  They are there to test and grow our faith.

It is a twofold proposition…do something that changes the world around you…and in so doing you will be changed just as much if not more.

What are we waiting for?
