What a good piece of advice for not only the presidential candidates but all of us who are willing to hear it. We worry and spend time and evergy on so much in our world that is completely out of our control. I like to pointificate as much as the next person. I enjoy reveling in the grand scheme of things as well. But when our anxiety about things out of our control begins to control our actions, then it is time to re-evaluate.
Jesus says in Matthew 6:26, “Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?” This does not mean we are to be hands-off in the stewardship of our life by no means. But we are to focus on the things that we have control over, plan for the things that might happen, but not spend our days contemplating, examining, and worrying about those things for which we cannot control.
The real key, as Krugman points out in a way, is to know what those things are that we can and cannot control. I will leave that up to you and the Creator to decide. I have to find that out for myself as well…maybe the less control I think I have then the more control God may get?
