The Word of God personalized for you? In a way yes. How quick we are to look for answers in self-help book or Uncle Dr. Phil or some infomercial quick fix when God’s Word holds the key to our answers if we will take the time to unlock it. I am not a big proponent of randomly opening up and looking for an answer to our issue (although I must admit God can and probably does work that way at times). But I am a big fan of a lifelong pursuit of the Scripture through reading, studying and meditating upon the sacred text. I am convinced that Scripture is the primary (not only, but primary) way God reveals Himself to us.

Maybe this coming New Year, one of your goals is to read the Bible through? Or maybe it is to memorize a large section or book of the Bible? Or maybe it is to spend quality time meditating on passages? You know better than I do what works for you, but I do know that God’s Word never returns empty. And there is no better way to spend 2008 than being filled so that you may be poured out for others.
