Articles of Faith: The unfortunate age of entitlement in America

Thought this was an interesting read and wanted to pass it along. I am always on the lookout for themes or trends in our culture.

As for this piece, not sure I am ready to call our age and ‘age of entitlement’ as the above article suggests, although I too see that in our culture.

Something to think on: When we begin to make blanket statements about people, we need to make sure we are not setting expectations that people will live into. I think viewing general themes in our society is helpful, but we do well to not “label” people in such a way that it dehumanizes them. People are still people. God continues to show love through patience and perseverance to us all.

I'm one of the pastors at First United Methodist Church in Lexington, Kentucky where I've served for the past thirteen years. The sub-title of this blog is "Grace is no accident" which happens to be the defining reality of my life. God's grace (gift) is the reason we have breath in our lungs and hope in our hearts.
