Is the Christian faith simple or is it difficult? If you ask 100 people, you will get a wide variety of answers. I believe it comes down to one factor: 1 Corinthians Chapter 2 tells us the key to the Christian faith is the Spirit of God. When the Spirit of God resides within a person, it is easy to believe the things of God. The converse is true: 1 Corinthians 12:14 says that a person without God’s Spirit thinks that God is foolishness.
So what? We who follow Christ must realize that people who have not yet accepted God’s grace in their lives will have a tough time understanding our beliefs. Therefore, we must be even more patient and full of grace ourselves in order that they may SEE the difference in our lives that a relationship with Christ brings. Why should we put our Christian expectations on people who do not, as of yet, have God in their lives? To do so is to judge them…to do so is to push them away…to do so is to reject Jesus’ teaching…
Now I am not saying that anything goes and that everything is acceptable. But what I am saying is that we need to be far more full of grace and mercy than judgment and condemnation.
