Unboxed – If You’re Open to Growth, You Tend to Grow – NYTimes.com.

This is an insightful article that has direct application, in my mind, to spiritual growth. Keeping a tender heart, always looking for what God is doing “now”, and understanding that we can learn from everyone around us is the fertile ground from which fruit can abound.

Like it or not, the reality of the matter is that living organisms are constantly changing.  These changes may be microscopic (like the shedding of skin cells) or they may be earthshattering (like a growth spurt for a child), but change is happening. The quicker we embrace this fact in life and look at it as opportunity rather than a threat, the more fertile we become for God’s work in our lives.

I'm one of the pastors at First United Methodist Church in Lexington, Kentucky where I've served for the past thirteen years. The sub-title of this blog is "Grace is no accident" which happens to be the defining reality of my life. God's grace (gift) is the reason we have breath in our lungs and hope in our hearts.
